More info

Incredibly complete with 6 channels (2 SuperAnalogue mic/line & 2 stereo line level), external and talkback inputs, built-in compression bus, 2 stereo artist listening sections and an array of outputs with ultra-expanded routing capabilities, the SiX is a true SSL professional console condensed into a compact chassis that has no shame in comparison to its larger studio sisters.

Legendary heritage.

The SiX is a desktop-format analog console ideal for the studio that could pass for yet another analog console available on the market. However, a keen eye will make no mistake: with this SSL console we are dealing with an incredibly capable machine, designed to offer maximum flexibility of use in a wide variety of studio and live situations. Carrying with it over 40 years of accumulated expertise and know-how from the prestigious SSL brand, this little console is no match for its much larger format siblings.

Solid analog inputs.

The SSL brand equips the biggest studios on the planet, and not without reason: the reputation of its consoles and the rendering of its preamps is no longer to be made. The SiX has inherited this legendary quality and features a pair of mic channels equipped with ultra-transparent SuperAnalogue preamps, developing 66dB of gain. These channels offer a separate line-level input, switchable to instrument level, so you can connect all your gear and instruments and give them the benefit of these exceptional preamps. To process your sound directly, these channels feature a one-pot compression circuit based on the classic SSL Channel Compressor and a 2-band EQ section with two curve settings, Bell and Shelf. As an added bonus, these channels have a symmetrical insert point for integrating processors, which can be used as a send for recording on a DAW. These two inputs are complemented by two pairs of stereo inputs, as well as two External inputs that can be routed to the mix bus. Small, you said?

A mythical compression bus.

The SiX packs a G Series Compressor, offering the same rendering and sound as the highly acclaimed Channel Compressor available on the 500 format and G Series consoles of the 1980s. Designed to bring cohesion and reinforcement to your mix without compromising clarity, this fixed ratio, attack and release compression bus is directly adjustable and activatable on both SuperAnalogue slices, as well as on the main outputs. The simplified controls of this compression are ideal for achieving that legendary compressor heard on recordings made with an SSL mixer.

Impressive monitoring and routing capabilities.

The SiX stands out very clearly from other consoles in this format with its incredibly advanced monitoring and routing capabilities. To the delight of artists, the SiX incorporates two stereo monitor busses, known as Foldback, with adjustable levels and individually selectable sources, output in balanced jack format. The monitoring section has a source selection section, and a section that controls the level, attenuation or mute of the monitor outputs, as well as sending it to the alternative output. The headphone output has its own source control section, while the main output offers the possibility of summing the signals from Stereo Cue 1, External 1 and External 2 to the main bus. With its summing capabilities, the SiX is then capable of outputting 12 channels via its main output, a real tour de force for a console of this format.

Ideal for post-production, podcasts and professional studio recording setups, the SiX is the culmination of over 40 years of development of professional mixing consoles by SSL, to give sound engineers and musicians all the tools for signal processing and routing in a compact format.
