The SSL Big Six console takes the features of the legendary SSL studio consoles that made history by capturing the sound of the greatest artists and giving many famous albums that unique color, in a compact size and at a much wiser price. This high performance analogue console is capable of offering exceptional flexibility in a wide variety of studio and live situations. Carrying over 40 years of Solid State Logic's accumulated expertise and know-how, this comprehensive console fits perfectly into the larger SSL console family.

Professional analog interface.
Like the brand's other mixing consoles, the SSL Big SiX has an impressive array of analog connections to capture the essence of the connected instrument. No less than four XLR mic inputs and a switchable line and instrument jack input, featuring the renowned high-gain SuperAnalogue preamps, are available for connecting mics and instruments. These channels feature a single potentiometer compression circuit based on the classic SSL Channel Compressor and a 3-band EQ section taken from the SSL E-Series with two curve settings for HF and LF: Bell or Shelf. Each SuperAnalogue slice offers an insert I/O for running the signal through an external processor.

To provide even more connection capability, the Big SiX also offers four stereo slices equipped with the same 3-band EQ, ideal for connecting all your stereo instruments. These inputs are switchable to Dual Mono, allowing the stereo inputs to be used as two mono inputs.

A high quality 16 channel USB audio interface on board.
Big news, this SSL console features a high quality (96 kHz / 24 bit) 16 channel audio interface to send captured sound to a DAW, or send sound from the computer into a selected slice. True to its reputation, SSL has equipped this audio interface with exceptional routing flexibility, allowing both sending and returning signal via USB to the SuperAnalogue, Stereo and External slices, as well as sending sound from Stereo Cue, Bus B or Master to a DAW.


A mythical compression bus.

Like the Six, the Big SiX embeds a G Series Compressor, offering the same rendering and sound as the highly acclaimed Channel Compressor available on the 500 format and G Series consoles of the 1980s. Designed to bring cohesion and reinforcement to your mix without compromising its clarity, this compression bus offers fixed ratio and attack parameters, while the release now features the famous "Auto" mode. This compressor can be activated and adjusted directly on the four SuperAnalogue slices, as well as on the main outputs.

Impressive monitoring and routing capabilities.
The Big SiX stands out very clearly from other consoles in this format with its incredibly advanced monitoring and routing capabilities. To the delight of artists, the Big SiX incorporates two stereo monitor busses, known as Foldback, with adjustable levels and individually selectable sources (they can even be sent to a DAW via the audio interface), output in balanced jack format. The monitoring section is not to be outdone, with a part that allows you to select the source, and a part that manages the level, attenuation or mute of the monitor outputs, as well as sending it to the Alternative output. The two headphone outputs have their own source control matrix, while the main output offers the possibility of summing the signals from Stereo Cue 1, External 1 and External 2 to the main bus. With its summing capabilities, the Big SiX is then capable of outputting 18 channels via its main output.

A precision tool.
Beyond its ultra-complete interface and professional capabilities, the Big SiX features professional control tools. The studio quality 100mm faders on board feature a classic SSL response curve with a large "Sweet Spot"' and a long travel for accuracy. Visual feedback is no slouch, with the console featuring large 12-segment meters for the Main, and 8 segments on the channels, offering exceptional readability and speed.
