Based on the success of the AmpMan amplified pedalboard, German brand Hughes & Kettner has thought of you by now offering the even more compact but no less powerful StompMan! This little brother of the AmpMan will literally blow you away with its dynamic and natural sounds captured in this amplified pedal format! The StompMan features the Spirit Tone Generator analog technology, which is renowned for its ability to reproduce the dynamic and warm sound of tube amps. With this compact, but surprisingly clever and powerful pedal, you have everything a modern guitarist can expect: a professional preamp that can be turned off, a solo boost, an effect loop, a built-in amp with a maximum power of 50 watts, all with very clever features depending on your needs. This makes the StompMan the perfect companion to add to the end of your pedalboard, ideal and complete for use in the studio as well as on stage!
A complete, flexible, and deactivatable preamp section!"
The StompMan's preamp delivers extended tones, from clean to legendary 60s-70s rock overdrive, which the Spirit Nano Vintage head and AmpMan Classic also offer. The sound is dynamic and can be very warm and compressed using the Sagging control, which simulates the saturation behavior of power tubes, allowing for added harmonics and natural compression. The Tone knob allows you to navigate between a typical American sound, with strong highs and lows, or a typical British sound, with more mids coming through the mix. With the Bypass mode selected on the back of the pedal, the preamp can be completely disabled from the sound signal by activating the footswitch provided. In this case, the Gain and Tone controls are no longer active, but the Presence, Resonance and Sagging controls remain active to shape the output of the amp section. Turning off the internal preamp allows you the flexibility to color only your signal with an external preamp or overdrive, distortion or fuzz pedals, with or without using the StompMan's neutral amp section.
A linear and powerful integrated amp, depending on your needs!
Like its big brother the AmpMan, the StompMan pedal delivers a maximum power output of 50W at a minimum impedance of 4Ω (25W at 8Ω, and 12.5W at 16 Ω). This integrated analog amp section allows you to simply power one or more guitar cabinets directly from your pedalboard (with an H.P. cable), without the need to carry a bulky combo or a heavy and fragile all-tube amp head. The power output is more than enough for rehearsals with a strong drummer or small gigs, especially if you multiply the cabinets and speakers to take advantage of the sound quality and power of the StompMan. Don't worry, the progressive master volume of the amp also allows you to feed a cabinet at low volume while keeping your sound dynamic. The amp section can also only be used to amplify another audio source by connecting it to the Return connection.
Finally, the Solo function allows you to add an overall volume boost from 0 to +6 dB by operating the dedicated footswitch easily to make your guitar stand out from the mix and showcase your finest solos!
Flexibility and clever connectivity for modern, on-the-go guitarists!
Besides the classic serial effects loop functionality that allows for efficient integration of spatializing effects pedals, all with the Fx Loop mode selected and switchable with the right footswitch, the StompMan offers versatile and modern flexibility of uses and connectivity.
The Send/Line out connector allows you to send a raw, unfiltered sound signal to an audio interface and then add impulse responses (IR) / cabinet simulations if needed. A perfect configuration to easily record yourself while using your usual pedalboard.
This raw Line Out signal can also be sent to a cabinet modeling / IR pedal to then be redirected to a sound system mixer, to an ear-monitor system, or finally a full range active speaker (FRFR) for example.
All these features and the flexibility of the StompMan combined with the Tone Spirit Generator technology and its powerful amplification make this compact pedal a very versatile ally for modern guitarists needing to use their equipment with various configurations, but always with a high quality sound rendering!
