Description
RedNet interfaces have been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of audio applications—from live sound to multi-room recording studios, houses of worship, distributed audio installations, post-production environments, and everything in between. Fundamentally, RedNet is a highly scalable audio distribution system that offers near-zero latency and can be used to expand the number of inputs and outputs of digital audio systems and/or act as a bridge between Pro Tools|HD, the MADI protocol, and the Dante audio network. Featuring Focusrite’s most advanced AD/DA conversion to date, an ultra-stable JetPLL clock, and premium multilayer PCBs, RedNet is no exception to Focusrite’s philosophy: Sound is everything. Designed and built with meticulous attention to detail, RedNet interfaces are a cut above the competition, delivering exceptional transparency and some of the best sound quality to date, while combining the revolutionary capabilities of networked audio systems.
Focusrite expands its Dante interface range with the RedNet A16R. Housed in a 1U metal chassis like its RedNet siblings, and equally at home in studios and AV control rooms, the RedNet A16R provides 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs, high-quality AD/DA conversion up to 119 dB, plus an AES/EBU input and output, and two Ethernet connectors for the Dante network.
The RedNet A16R supports standard sample rates: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192 kHz at 24-bit with adjustable settings. Balanced audio I/O is provided via DB-25 connectors to the AES59 standard. Inputs/outputs can be configured for +18 dBu or +24 dBu.
In addition, there are two AES/EBU channels on XLR3 connectors, plus Word Clock input and output. Synchronization can be internal or external via Word Clock or DARS.
Sample rate and levels can be controlled remotely from the RedNet Control software on Mac or PC. The front panel with LED indicators provides a complete visual of sample rate, per-channel I/O levels, network status, and active power supply. Also present are activity indicators for AES/EBU connections and for the three clock source types: internal, Word Clock, and DARS.
The RedNet A16R features redundant Ethernet connections and power supplies, with two separate IEC mains inlets (100-240 V), plus two secure etherCON network connectors. All of this can be controlled remotely to be assigned to redundant or switched (daisy-chain) mode.
