Guitarists and bassists who use amp modelers on their pedalboards face a unique set of challenges: while amp simulators can produce line-level outputs, they often use unbalanced 1/4" connectors that don’t support long cable runs without degrading the instrument’s tone, and they’re particularly susceptible to ground-loop noise when connected directly to the PA. The Highline solves these issues by inserting a 1:1 transformer in the signal path, providing isolation to reduce noise, protecting against phantom power, and keeping the signal at line level for a direct connection to the sound system.
SUM switch for added versatility!
Although the Highline is a mono-output device, it can accept two input signals and sum them. This lets you connect the left and right outputs of a stereo amp modeler to the Highline and feed them equally into the single output to the PA. Engaging the "Sum" switch on the Highline reconfigures the Thru jack to become a second input connection, and adds a passive resistive mixing circuit in the signal path. Once the switch is engaged, you can connect the second output of your source device to the Thru jack using a 6.35 mm (1/4") TS or TRS cable.
