Description
Thanks to its seamless integration between MADI, Dante, and USB, the UMD192 delivers flexible routing, high channel counts, and uncompromising performance for recording, playback, and format conversion. It provides 192 channels at 96 and 48 kHz, or 128 channels at 192 kHz, in a compact, portable 1/2RU form factor.
The perfect bridge between USB, MADI and Dante
Designed for versatility, the UMD192 supports bidirectional audio between any two formats—MADI, Dante, or USB—with the third format able to receive a split feed. This makes it ideal for linking multiple MADI-connected devices to a Dante network, or for high-throughput recording and playback over USB 3.0.
On the network side, the UMD192 provides full Dante AoIP interoperability with AES67 and ST 2110 (with DDM) support, and ultra-low Dante latency down to 0.25 ms. The UMD192 offers flexible clocking options from MADI or Dante, covering sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz. With six MADI BNC pairs, the UMD192 can also be configured in redundant mode, enabling three doubly redundant MADI connections for mission-critical broadcast and live workflows.
The all-in-one solution for live, broadcast, and studio
While the UMD192 is a natural fit for live sound environments, its versatility makes it equally valuable across a wide range of professional audio scenarios. From music recording and broadcast mixing—especially when paired with SSL System T—to high-channel-count studio sessions, the UMD192 delivers seamless integration and robust performance.
It’s an ideal computer interface for Harrison 32Classic systems with Dante, and it fits perfectly into SSL Oracle or ORIGIN setups with Dante or MADI conversion. The UMD192 is a powerful solution for non-SSL console users in live sound, broadcast, studio, and post-production environments. It offers outstanding connectivity, format conversion, and operational flexibility in a compact, portable form factor.
With unmatched flexibility and robust connectivity, the UMD192 is the ideal companion for engineers working in live sound, broadcast, post-production, and studio environments. Whether used as a high-capacity interface or a format bridge, the UMD192 streamlines workflows and future-proofs your setup.
Intuitive front-panel controls
The UMD192’s front panel features clear, highly visible indicators providing real-time information on signal flow, sample-rate sync, power status, and network connectivity, keeping you in control even under pressure. The UMD192’s front-panel controls are locked by default to protect your preset configuration and prevent accidental parameter changes. Press and hold the padlock button to temporarily unlock the other controls and change modes.
• Lock — Press and hold to unlock the other front-panel controls. Keep holding until the red lock symbol at the center of the indicator ring turns off.
• Mode — Press to cycle through signal flow modes — available when the front panel is unlocked.
• Clock Source — Press to toggle between Dante and MADI as the clock source — available when the front panel is unlocked.
• MADI Redundancy — Press to enable or disable MADI redundancy. Redundant mode applies to all MADI ports — available when the front panel is unlocked.
Flexible power and redundancy
The UMD192 supports multiple power sources (mains AC, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and USB), offering flexible deployment options and allowing engineers and operators to build power redundancy into their setup. Each of these power sources can be used individually, and PoE can be combined with an external PSU to provide redundant power.
Mac and Windows compatible
The UMD192 is a digital audio interface that works natively with macOS Core Audio, with no additional drivers required. Simply connect the device, select SSL as the audio device in System Settings, and you’re ready to work. This enables guest engineers to plug in a Mac and get started immediately, without installing extra software.
On Windows systems, the UMD192 requires the SSL ASIO driver, available from the Solid State Logic support portal. These ASIO drivers are multi-client, allowing multiple ASIO applications to access the interface simultaneously.
