The SB-4 has a jack input for instrumental miking. Unlike conventional D.I.'s that have an input impedance of 1 meg ohm, the SB-4 has an input impedance of 10 megaohms, which has the effect of smoothing out the annoying peaks that give piezos their bad reputation. The higher impedance also broadens the frequency response for a more natural and pleasant sound. The active circuitry performs the high to low impedance conversion while balancing the signal. To help eliminate feedback, the SB-4 features a high-pass filter that reduces bass resonance and a 180-degree polarity inverter that allows you to circumscribe areas of the stage - changing the phase relationship between the front panel and the room's acoustics. An AUX connector offers the possibility to link to the amplifier in addition to the standard XLR output. The power supply comes from the 48V of the console, which eliminates the need for an external power supply. You simply plug in once the 48V is engaged and play!
