Before leading the brand that still bears his name today, the late Vic Firth was first and foremost an accomplished percussionist who practiced his art under the baton of the greatest conductors within the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His first pair of sticks was designed to meet the demands of a musical piece for which he sought a particular sound and feel.
