Originally, the Pearly Gates were a take on the Les Paul Standard pickups whose rough, rebellious sound gave birth to the tewan blues-rock genre. The Pearly Gates is very smooth, yet raw, with lots of sustain and bright highs that make the harmonics jump out of the guitar. It is often used in both neck and bridge positions.
