The daf is a drum of Persian origin, stemming from a rich tradition. Its frame is equipped on its inner side with "garlands" of metal rings that give it a specific timbre. As this instrument is played with a lot of movement, the Meinl dafs are pre-tuned to reduce their weight and to offer a great playing comfort.
