LÂG celebrates the French Gypsy jazz tradition with the SWING LÂG series
Born in the 1930s with Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club de France, Gypsy jazz forged a unique musical identity. At the same time in Paris, Italian luthier Mario Maccaferri designed an iconic guitar that would define the sound and silhouette of this distinctive style.
The SWING LÂG series pays tribute to this legacy by combining historical inspiration, renowned craftsmanship, refined design, and a keen sense of harmony.
Historical inspiration and modern standards
True to the heritage of Gypsy jazz guitars, SWING LÂG models adopt the iconic “petite bouche” shape. Celebrated for its focused projection and precise articulation in solo playing, it is just as effective for accompaniment, offering the responsiveness and accuracy essential for la pompe.
These instruments incorporate the key elements that define the genre’s sound: a wooden bridge paired with a metal tailpiece for optimal vibration transfer and the signature attack, along with Argentine strings, renowned for their clarity, supple tension, and quick response.
In keeping with tradition, the slotted headstock and its metal-roller tuners preserve the original aesthetic while benefiting from an oil-bath sealed system that ensures reliable, precise tuning. The whole is complemented by a dual-action truss rod, allowing fine neck adjustment and lasting stability.
Thus, the SWING LÂG collection offers instruments that blend authenticity and reliability, able to cut through the mix while preserving all the dynamic richness of Gypsy jazz.
