Description
A second mode is directly inspired by the iconic character of the JB/Jazz humbucker set, followed by a third single-coil mode capable of the purest, cleanest clean tones. This latter mode still delivers high output and definition, making it work beautifully with modern gear and productions. The 7-string MortalCoil features an active Soapbar-style mounting system, which sets it apart from the 6-string version. At the heart of the MortalCoil is a feat of precision that enables exceptional winding density paired with perfectly optimized resistance. This yields faster, stronger transient response, translating to firmer, more precise pick attack, regardless of tuning. Also central to the MortalCoil’s development, the brand-new, purpose-designed Seymour Duncan preamp uses cutting-edge op-amps that enhance the pickup’s harmonic richness and detail, as well as the sense of dynamics it offers when played with relatively low gain. The electronics are optimized to consume as little power as possible, extending battery life. This preamp results in outstanding versatility for modern styles, ultra-powerful attacks, and absolutely surgical gain control. The MortalCoil installs easily and integrates seamlessly with most existing active setups.
