It is the famous vintage delay working with a tape recording/reproducing head system. The Nux Tape Echo is a tribute to the famous Japanese made SpaceEcho from 1974. This analog technology required a rather large enclosure, and despite its relative reliability it is very appreciated for its repetition of the sound with a so particular grain, generating also a modulation, a flicker and a saturation of the delays. This Nux Tape Echo pedal from the Verdugo series models with quality and ingenuity the tape delay effect with Nux Core-Image technology, in order to reproduce this characteristic delay with the advantages and flexibility of digital. This on-board digital technology therefore provides thanks to its 32 bit converter a very high quality modeling, for bluffing delay sounds that will embellish your prettiest arpeggios or solos!

The Nux Tape Echo models the 3 playback/reverb heads and allows you to mix the different heads to offer 7 possible delay combinations, selectable via the "select" setting. A last mode with only the studio quality reverb on board is also provided. Seven combinations of rhythmic signatures are also available to enrich your delay variations. The time, level and repeat control knobs allow you to adjust the delay time, its mix in the signal, and the number of delay repeats, from single and fast slapbacks to long and endless delays used in psychedelic music! A 2-band EQ (bass and treble) allows you to adjust the frequencies of your delays, but will not affect your reverb.
The two footswitches allow you even more functionality. The left footswitch turns the delay effect on or off in your signal, and by holding it down the infinite feedback effect comes to life, feeding the delay repeats back into your signal over and over again for a psychedelic effect that connoisseurs love. The right switch controls the tap tempo, setting the length of the delay with your foot. When pressed, this switch allows you to manage the subdivisions or delay times on the oled screen. Finally, pressing both footswitches at the same time triggers the SOS (Sound on Sound) function, which is a built-in 40-second looper (rec/play/dub), very useful for practicing alone. An expression pedal input is present to control the time, repeat or level of the foot delay. MIDI mini-jacks offer control of the pedal via this protocol (mini-jacks / 5-pin DIN adapters are included with the pedal) and MIDI can be assigned via USB and the dedicated Tape-Echo software. The two jack outputs allow you to use the delay in stereo for even more depth to your sound! If you want to customize your delays even more, connect your pedal via USB and use the free Tape-Echo editing software, downloadable from the Nux website. This gives you a more ergonomic and precise access to your settings (wow, flutter, saturation, kill dry, SubD/Ms...) for even more experimentation and inspiration! The USB port also allows the update of the firmware of the pedal.
