From cane planting to flow-pack packaging that protects the

reeds from humidity variations, Vandoren oversees every stage of

production of its famous cane reeds. Cut by hand, the canes

are carried on workers’ backs from the edges of the reed beds. They are then

stripped, sun-cured, dried, sawn, split, planed, beveled, ...

No fewer than fifteen distinct production steps produce a

considerable volume of cane waste, which is reused as fertilizer for

the reed beds or as fuel to heat the factory. Music
