Description
The bass strings are made with a special red protective varnish that not only reduces finger noise but also prevents allergic reactions to metals and undesirable oxidation processes that frequently occur on standard strings with silver-plated copper winding. The sound of these strings is distinctly bright, clean, and fast, and offers great acoustic power. Unlike fluorocarbon strings, these strings provide excellent vibrato and a remarkable variation in timbre when the right hand moves from the bridge toward the soundhole. Laboratory tests have shown that Sugar strings have, respectively, 18% more sound power (measured in Joules) and 24% more sustain than fluorocarbon strings. Moreover, these strings have both the smoothness and musicality of gut, while at the same time the clarity and quick response typical of fluorocarbon. Even though their surface is extremely smooth, the grip is remarkable; in other words, they are never slippery.
