Description

These new strings for bass (not just ukulele) have the particularity of being spun from copper, as opposed to the usual nickel or steel, giving them greater density and improved sound performance. They also feature a monofilament core in a bioplastic called Sugar, developed exclusively by Aquila. These new strings are available for bass ukulele, shortscale bass and standard acoustic bass.

Aquila has made a name for itself in the string world thanks to its many innovations. Today, the brand is breaking new ground in the world of bass strings with its new Flat Spirals and Round Spirals series.

FLAT SPIRALS

A few years ago, Aquila unveiled a new bio-plastic derived from sugarcane; its use for ukulele and guitar strings through the new Sugar series presages excellent sustain and a bright, lively sound character. This same material is used for the monofilament core of the new Flat Spirals strings.

The Sugar monofilament core is flat-spun with a wire designed in a copper-based alloy, softer but also denser than steel or nickel. This recipe guarantees Aquila Flat Spirals strings a brighter, more powerful sound than traditional flatwounds with excellent sustain.
