Description
The OB-6 captures Tom Oberheim’s classic, powerful sound—thanks to its true oscillators, 2‑pole filter, and voltage‑controlled amplifiers—and adds enhancements such as studio‑quality effects, a polyphonic step sequencer, an arpeggiator, and more. No other modern analog polyphonic synthesizer can boast such a pedigree or such a massive, upfront sonic signature.
The OB‑6’s sound engine is inspired by Tom’s original SEM, the heart of his renowned four‑ and eight‑voice synthesizers. It features two discrete voltage‑controlled oscillators (plus a sub‑oscillator) per voice, with continuously variable waveforms (sawtooth and variable‑width pulse, plus a triangle wave for the second oscillator). The classic, Oberheim‑inspired, state‑variable 2‑pole resonant filter provides low‑pass, high‑pass, band‑pass, and notch modes. Voltage‑controlled amplifiers complete the fully analog signal path.
