Most passive DIs don't sound good because they use low-end steel or metal transformers. This causes phase shifts at different frequencies: indistinct, punchless bass, lifeless mids. The JDI uses a transformer with a nickel core. Nickel has no memory effect or polarity, which reduces phase and harmonic distortion. Problem solved: Great sounding JDI requires no power supply.
